Melotte Lab
The colorectal cancer neuroscience research group at the University of Maastricht is led by Dr Veerle Melotte @Maastricht, The Netherlands.
Dr. Veerle Melotte is a cancer biologist with research interest in cancer neuroscience. Her research group aims to understand the bi-directional interaction between (colorectal) cancer cells and the (enteric) nervous system, with the long-term goal to develop cancer therapies targeting the nervous system.
Dr. Melotte's group works in close collaboration with the Enteric Neurobiology Lab (PI Prof. Werend Boesmans, UHasselt, Belgium), who aims to understand the role of enteric glial cells and faulty intestinal nerve circuits in the transition from gastrointestinal homeostasis to several diseases.
